Week beginning 1st August - Toddler 2 Weather Project

This week our little learners in the Caterpillars 2 room continued their learning journey exploring nature through weather interest. To continue extending on children's interests beginning the week collecting tree branches from the garden and pasted these on paper (1/8). Using blue and white paint our little learners created their very own snow painting representing the winter weather theme.

The caterpillars continued their learning about weather exploring stormy weather patterns and its impact to nature through a creative arts painting experience (1/8). Our little learners also learnt about the rainbow and how this forms during particular weather patterns. The children created different crafts exploring the colours of the rainbow (3/8).

Our Caterpillars 2 group further extended their learning through a sensory experience exploring the clouds through a shaving foam experience (4/8). The children spread shaving foam on a big tray and used few drops of the blue food colouring to create a bed of clouds. The caterpillars furthermore learnt about the cold weather outside through a nature based activity where they made a snowy tree using natural leaves, shaving foam to mimic snow during their outdoor play (4/8).

What the caterpillars have learnt this week:

* Exploring science and assisting children to make observations and learn about the climate.

* Exploring climate, weather patterns and seasons through various areas of learning.

Next week (week beginning 8th August) the Caterpillars will continue:

* Exploring the difference between different weather patterns through creative arts e.g. Rainy and sunny day collage experience/thunderstorms/clouds.

* Exploring weather through sensory exploration e.g. fluffy clouds with shaving foam.
